MASS AWIS Mentoring Circle Program

The Massachusetts Association for Women in Science hosts an annual mentoring circle program. A mentoring circle is a group of individuals that meet together on a regular basis for an agreed-upon length of time. The group’s primary purpose is to help mentees accomplish two tasks:

  • Set important development goals
  • Build competence and character to reach those goals

MassBay STEM Mentor Program by MassBay Community College

MassBay Community College in Wellesley Hills, MA, is looking for engineering professionals to act as mentors in the MassBay STEM Mentor Program.

Seeking mentors and STEM professionals for MassBay student mentees majoring in a STEM field (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics).

The STEM Mentor Program, now entering its 5th year of operation, matches MassBay STEM students at the college with professionals in the field in one-on-one mentoring relationships. The program also provides substantive, skills-based, and networking programs throughout the year. Employer partnerships currently include Sanofi Genzyme, US Army Corps of Engineers, MathWorks and the US Food & Drug Administration (Winchester Engineering Analytical Center).

This past year they had roughly 70 mentees and mentors participating in the program; each year the program has grown and they anticipate the need for more engineering professionals to match with students pursuing engineering degrees. One of their primary objectives is to support STEM students who are currently underrepresented in STEM fields, such as women – and they seek to recruit female mentors to provide positive, relatable role models for their students. MassBay and SWE seek professionals who want to give back to the community and make a difference in an emerging engineer’s life and career.

If interested, please contact Wanda Gleason at wgleason@massbay.edu to apply.
