Sponsorship Prospectus

To Whom It May Concern:

Thank you for your interest in partnering with the Boston section of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE)! SWE’s mission is to stimulate women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and demonstrate the value of diversity.

Chartered in 1950, SWE Boston is one of the largest sections in our society with over 500 members throughout the greater Boston area including southern New Hampshire and outside of I-495. We are actively seeking sponsors for professional development, outreach, and membership events. These are excellent opportunities to support a key pillar of SWE and gain visibility.

We appreciate your support in developing exciting programming for our members and turning our visions into realities. Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at our general email below or the committee-specific emails. Looking forward to collaborating!

Sincerely,

SWE Boston Executive Council

Sponsorship Areas:

1. Professional Development | pd@sweboston.org

For our professional development meetings, we partner with a different company each month for a weeknight event (generally 6-8 pm) including dinner and a guest speaker/panel on a topic mutually agreed upon. We typically request that the sponsoring company cover catering costs, speaker fees (if any), and location (e.g. office meeting space).

Attendance varies from 30 to 70 people including SWE Boston members, sponsoring company employees, and other interested individuals in the community. We’ve also held joint meetings with other engineering societies and technology-focused organizations including the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Association of Women in Science (MASS AWIS). Examples of past events include:

  • “Nurturing Individual and Team Creativity” with Analog Devices in Wilmington, MA
  • “Women & Transition: Reinventing Work and Life” with Amazon Robotics in North Reading
  • “Data Analytics and Decision Making” with MathWorks in Natick

If you are interested in attending a career fair as an exhibitor or sponsoring a session for a larger audience, there are society-level opportunities at our flagship Annual Conference and WE Local Conferences.

2. Outreach | outreach@sweboston.org

SWE Boston not only promotes development, growth, and kinship in our professional members, but is also an important advocate for younger generations and their futures in STEM fields. With Outreach initiatives, we strive to encourage and foster interest in science, technology, engineering and math by hosting events with fun activities that demonstrate real-life application of STEM concepts and ideas while providing an outlet to ask questions.
SWE Boston has hosted a number of WOW! That’s Engineering events with different companies as well as hosted tables at the Cambridge Science Festival and provided volunteers to support events by FIRST Robotics and the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts. SWE Boston Outreach has a number of varied initiatives and recurring events, but we are always looking for new ways and ideas to promote STEM, and to collaborate on activities and events.
A sponsorship in an Outreach initiative can mean a contribution such as a donation to offset material costs or hosting a day-long event of workshops, to include funding a location, material, and food. Any level of sponsorship is welcome and encouraged. SWE Boston works with sponsors to determine the best way to fulfill both Outreach and sponsor goals. Please contact us if you are interested in Outreach sponsorship!

3. Membership | membership@sweboston.org

SWE Boston creates many opportunities for members to connect and grow. There are 500 SWE Boston members! We organize networking mixers and casual brunches for members to get to know each other. We partner with the Society’s Leadership Coaching Committee (LCC) to host leadership modules about SWE. We also recognize and promote our members, by nominating them for SWE awards and external awards. For the past two years, we have given the opportunity for 2 outstanding SWE Boston members to attend the Region conference in recognition for their dedication to SWE.

Facility tours are one of the most popular requests by SWE Boston members. We would love to partner with you to organize a tour of your factory, lab space, or business.

If you are interested in helping SWE Boston members network, you can sponsor a networking mixer. We typically host our networking events on a weeknight, and appreciate sponsorship to cover the costs incurred by the venue and refreshments.
